She married Thomas Nelson on the 12th of February 1805. They had 9 children all born in Morland, Westmoreland, England. They are listed in the Thomas Nelson history preceding this one.
Elizabeth and Thomas came to America in 1838, four of their children joined the LDS Church and went by ox team across the United States from Nauvoo, Illinois to Salt Lake City, Utah. She and Thomas joined them but were not members of the church. Thomas died along the way between Mount Pisgah and Soap creek in August 1846, and was buried along the trail.
Elizabeth crossed the plains and lived with her sons. She and her daughter, Jane, are found living in the household of her son, Henry, in Pottawattomie County, Iowa in the 1850 census. She left there with Henry and his family in 1851 and settled with them in Provo, Utah. In 1852 she joined the church and later was sealed to her husband for time and eternity. She moved to Heber City, along with Henry's family. She died 15 March 1874.
Much of this story is from a story by Effie Nelson Blackley, a great-grand daughter, with additional information from Donald Wilberg.
