LAWONA SESSIONS HARROP

Daughter of Lloy Jane Bennett and Barney Burl Sessions

I was the fourth child having three older brothers, Lynn, Drell and Randy. Drell, however only lived a few hours after birth. Our family was blessed with two more boys, David and Glade. I was raised with two older brothers and two younger brothers, which meant that I was teased a lot while I was growing up. It also meant that I liked to do most of what they were doing. Climbing trees, frog hunting, fishing, riding unicycles, digging forts in the back field, etc. I still liked my baby dolls, Barbie dolls and playing with my friends.

I was born in Vernal, Utah and have lived in Vernal all but five years of my life. My parents still live in the same house that I was raised in at 631 W. 200 N.

When I was around 2 years old, my Grandmother Sessions "Granny" moved in with us. I remember being in the way when her apartment was being built in the basement of our house. Granny was a big part of our family. She was there to tend us kids, bake bread and pies, cook meals, and help out any way she could. Granny was an excellent quilter and made many quilts while I was growing up.

I was always so small and store bought clothes didn't fit right, so my mother sewed most of my clothes while I was growing up. My hair was fine and straight and wouldn't hold a curl, so I wore my hair short until I was in the fourth grade when I started to grow it out. My Grandmother Bennett always cut my hair.

When I was in the fourth grade I started taking piano lessons. Playing the piano became a very important part of my life. Whenever I felt stressed, angry, or sad, all I had to do was sit down and play for awhile and soon I was feeling better. I have also had many church callings which involved playing the piano.

My Grandma & Grandpa Bennett owned some land which we just called "the farm". They raised some sheep and a few cows along with a vegetable garden. I loved to go to the farm and see the baby lambs in the spring.

Grandma & Grandpa Bennett also had a cabin on the mountain north of Vernal. Our family spent a lot of time there as I was growing up. My parent now own the cabin and I enjoy spending time there with my family.

I attended Ashley Elementary, Vernal Junior High and the Uintah High School graduating in May 1979. I then attended one year at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah. My main course of study was in the business field.

On the very first day of college in my very first class, "Career Decisions" I met Robin Hislop Harrop. We ended up being in three classes together and started to get to know each other. We started dating and soon knew that we wanted to be married. On December 3, 1980, we were married in the Manti Temple. And so my future career was decided.

Rob and I lived in Vernal until July of 1981. We moved to Logan about 1 month before our first daughter was born. Jennie Marie was born on August 16 in Vernal, Utah. We ended up moving back to Vernal in September. Rob got a job working at Utah Motor. We moved into our first house in August 1983 and our son, Adam Kent was born on October 23 in Vernal that same year. Lacey Joy was born on March 13, 1985 also in Vernal.

In 1986, our family moved to Ogden, Utah. We lived there until May of 1990 when we moved back to Vernal. We really like the Vernal area and like raising our children here. We bought our second home on the same street as the first.

Rob joined the Army Reserves in October of 1986. He was in a artillery unit 1990 when he joined a hospital unit. The Army sent him to their nursing school July 1992 until August 1993. Rob is now working as a LPN and is working on his RN.

Our fourth child, Kaloni Lloy was born on August 6, 1992 also in Vernal. She is a very energetic child and keeps us hopping. She is now in the first grade. She likes to read, draw pictures, play dolls, ride her bike, and play soccer.

Lacey is in the ninth grade. She is an A student and enjoys learning. Lacey enjoys playing soccer and has been playing on the high school team. She enjoys reading, cooking, scrapbooking, and being with her friends.

Adam is a sophomore in high school. He is looking forward to receiving his driver's license. He enjoys playing soccer, basketball, football, and also plays on the high school soccer team.

Jennie is living at home, working, and taking college classes. She enjoys working on computers, scrapbooking, reading and visiting her friends.

Rob and I feel very blessed to have such wonderful children. They are making good choices in life and have very promising futures.

Currently, I am working for my brother Randy at his 5 Buck Pizza store in Vernal. With working, church duties and family, I stay very busy.
